Valerie Mullen Pletcher is a nonprofit innovation specialist with over two decades of professional philanthropy and management experience. Her in-depth knowledge of fundraising programs, ethics, and nonprofit standards, has led to millions of dollars raised to help missions thrive and philanthropists achieve their goals for the well-being of others. As founder and Chief Architect of A New Gift, LLC, Valerie also mentors individuals seeking to contribute to the field of philanthropy, helping them explore their unique, unrepeatable gifts.

Valerie holds a B.A. in speech communications from West Chester University and multiple management and specialized fundraising certificates, including Seth Godin’s AltMBA. She is a licensed consultant for the Nonprofit Standards for Excellence Institute™ and a graduate with distinction of the International Advanced Fundraising Diploma (IADF) of the U.K. Institute of Fundraising (IoF) in collaboration with the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Valerie currently serves as a Senior Director of Philanthropy at FOCUS. She is a Trustee of the National Catholic Community Foundation, An Advisory Board Member of SENT Ventures, and a member of the high school ministry team at Saint Mary of Sorrows in Northern Virginia. Valerie enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Matthew, and daughters, Mary Claire, Maggie, and Marlena.
